On October 11, HubSpot officially announced its acquisition of the CPQ and automation software, Cacheflow. This echoes last year’s acquisition of Clearbit – which resulted in HubSpot’s Breeze Intelligence - so we can likely expect the release of an in-platform CPQ in 2025.
As HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan put it in her internal email, “[Cacheflow] provides subscription billing and configure, price, quote (CPQ) software to automate revenue management and shorten the sales cycle.”
This will come as a major boost to HubSpot’s Commerce Hub, which has been relatively quiet since its initial launch. The Cacheflow team is expected to integrate into the HubSpot company tree as a part of their Commerce team, signifying the clear intent to bolster that part of the platform.
How Will HubSpot’s Acquisition of Cacheflow Impact Users?
HubSpot’s acquisition of Cacheflow will have no impact on users in the immediate future, however – given their timing following the Clearbit move – it would be no surprise to see a CPQ feature launched for Inbound 2025.
Many third-party apps that integrate with HubSpot do so in an effort to plug holes that are found within the current functionality. However, HubSpot has a trend of solving problems just after these apps launch their solutions, i.e. PandaDoc and quote•hapily.
Other examples of this include Chilipiper’s form routing, made obsolete with HubSpot’s form routing updates around Inbound 2023, or the buyer intent and data enrichment functionality rolled out this year replacing many vendors that provide account information based on website visitors.
